The Blacksmith

The Blacksmith

Go back in time as you walk in and find an original ‘smithy’. These were a central part of every regional town. This is where metal work was completed – horseshoes and tack, steelwork for coach wheels and more. There is a large array of saddles on display, along with our agricultural machines that were hard-working pieces in a farmers’ daily life.

This realistic exhibit contains many of the tools used by blacksmith, Billy Keane.

See the Donald wool press and shearing machine that are still in use in some of our woolsheds across New Zealand.
